Economics Department

The Economics Department at Vaidyanath College was established in 1968,right from the
college’s inception. Prof. M. M. Gaikwad was the head of the department, and Prof. K. K.
Pokarna joined him in 1971. Both of them retired in 2003. Prof. S. T. Kalme joined the
department in 1975 and retired in 2010. The college’s principal, Dr. R. K. Ippar, became the
head of the department in 2010and retired from that position in 2018. In 2010, Prof. S. S.
Bansode Madam, and Prof. M. G. Mehatre Madam were working as clock hour basis lecturers.
As of the 2025-26 academic year, Dr. M. G. Mehatre is working as a CHB in the Department.
