Department of English
The Department of English was established with the establishment of Jawahar Education Society’s Vaidyanath College, Parli-Vaijnath in the year 1968. Right from the beginning, the Department offers Compulsory and Optional English Courses at the Undergraduate level. The college introduced Postgraduate Course from the Academic Year 2017-2018. Prof. N. Suryanarayan was the first faculty and Head of the Department. He served the Department from 15.06.1968 to 31.07.1999. The next faculty appointed in the department was Prof. M. P. Dube who served the department from 15.06.1970 to 29.02.2004. The third faculty to be appointed in the Department was Dr. Y. K. Patki who served the Department from 15.06.1972 to 31.01.1999. The fourth faculty appointed in the Department was Prof. K. B. Harne and he served the Department from 15.06.1972 to 31.05.2002. At present three full time faculty have been working in the Department. Dr. V. J. Chavan has been working since 16.11.1999 to this date. He has been awarded Ph. D. in 2018. He is a Research Guide and four research scholars are working under his supervision. Asso. Prof. N. S. Jadhav has been working since 01.09.2005 to this date and Assist. Prof. Y. D. Reddy has been working since 28.07.2007 to this date. Dr. V. J. Chavan has completed a UGC-Minor Research Project entitled, “Theme of Identity, Racism and family in the select Autobiographies of Maya Angelou” and Mr. N. S. Jadhav has also completed UGC – Minor Research Projects. Mr. N. S. Jadhav and Mr. Y. D. Reddy have been pursuing research leading to Ph. D. The faculty in the Department have participated in a good number of Workshops, Seminars, Conferences and Faculty Development Programs. They have also published Research Papers in Reputed Journals. The Department has an Audio system with good number of audio cassettes. The Department organized State Level Workshop on Academic Writing in the year 2017. The Department has a separate cabin with Departmental library in it. The department has also an attached lavatory facility.
